“The wicket looks good. (We’ve) seen the India-South Africa match. We are waiting keenly to play here,” he said at the press conference on Wednesday.

Australia and England played in the first-ever ODI at the MCG on Jan 5, 1971. Mashrafe said his side is excited over playing at the historic ground.

“A wicket doesn’t change much within 7-8 hours. It seems to be a high-scoring wicket.”

The flat MCG wicket has very little grass on it, according to Mashrafe.

“(We’re) trying to figure things out from earlier matches. I think it (the wicket) will assist if we bowl well.”

Bowling coach Heath Streak is also positive about the pitch.

“I think it’s a good challenge, the wicket has a lot in it. If you bat well, there are rewards for that. We are looking forward to a good fight.”

With scores of 300 in plenty in this World Cup, the Bangladesh captain is confident of his batsmen being quite able to reach the mark.

“Our batsmen are definitely able (to score 300). If we start well, we can certainly do it. We’ve done it before.”

The Tigers have scored 300 or more in only six ODIs so far and the last time they did so was in March last year.
