The team's latest West Indies tour was marred by defeat in both the Test and one-day series.

After losing the the Test series 2-0 and ODI series 3-0 the cricketers returned home on Saturday morning.

"No result to show, so some change in the team combination is necessary. Although the plan was same for the West Indies tour, it didn't work out. This effort to win will continue during the next series against Zimbabwe," Mushfiq said at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Zimbabwe is scheduled to visit Bangladesh to play three Tests and five one-dayers in October.

Bangladesh couldn't play the Tests or the ODIs according to their plan, acknowledged Mushfiq.

The anguish of failure to maintain good starts disheartens the skipper.

"Playing good cricket for a long period of time is necessary to win against a strong team. We couldn't do that."

The 26-year old thinks, losing wickets at critical times and failing to secure breakthrough at right moment is what led to defeats.

"There was some failure in shouldering the responsibilities given to us; particularly in our batting. We need to work on that."

Nasir Hossain, who is fighting for form, was a letdown once again, while Shamsur Rahman could not meet the expectations.

"It is unfair not to not give a player minimum chances. Before this, Tamim (Iqbal) didn't score runs in many matches. This time around Tamim, (Mahmudullah) Riyad played well. I think we should back some players."

Mushfiq is not thinking about stepping down despite the team's constant failures.

Rather he wants to move ahead with the challenge of bringing Bangladesh back on song.
