The third edition of the franchise-based Twenty20 tournament could be staged in April next year.

The board does not support the idea of organising the tournament before the World Cup, BCB President Nazmul Hassan said after a Board of Directors’ meeting on Wednesday.

Australia and New Zealand will co-host the limited-overs World Cup in February-March.

“Three possible dates came up in the meeting – in December this year, April next year and November. We’ve agreed to the April plan so far,” Hassan said.

He also said that BCB would soon take legal action against the franchises to get the dues before the commencement of next edition.

The last edition of BPL was staged in 2013. Irregularities in that edition forced BCB to halt progress for the next.
