Additionally, the nation's top cricketer will not be provided any No-Objection Certificate, required to play tournaments outside the country, for the next 18 months.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan stated about this exemplary action against Shakib after a board meeting on Monday.

The world's No1 all-rounder had left Dhaka to play in the Caribbean Premier League without the No-Objection Certificate. He was asked last Friday to return to join the Bangladesh team’s training camp that started on July 1.

On his return Shakib explained he went to play CPL without any permission from the board due to a misunderstanding.

Following the ban, Shakib is barred from playing in any tournament abroad until Dec 31 next year. The BCB has cancelled NOCs provided earlier for some tournaments.

The six-month ban will end before the start of the Australia-New Zealand World Cup.

Shakib has also been barred from joining training sessions with the national team. However, he can individually use the BCB practice facilities.

During the recent home series against India, Shakib made another breach of BCB rules when he made his way into the spectator’s gallery.

The incident took place during the second ODI against India on June 15 at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium. Some youths in the gallery were pestering Shakib’s wife, Umme Ahmed Shishir. This led to a brawl between BCB security personnel, joined by Shakib, and the men.

Later Shakib was asked to explain the gallery incident. He claimed that he was not aware of any rule that restricted him from going to the gallery during the match. BCB was unhappy with the explanation.

Although the 27-year-old apologised for the incident, it also influenced the decision towards the six-month ban.
Shakib’s reply prompted BCB to term his attitude 'arrogant', according to the board. The BCB chief thinks, to maintain discipline such arrogance must not go entertained
Shakib has numerous behavioural problems, the board chief reflected.
The top. all-rounder’s behaviour has influenced many players of the national team and is consequently causing disciplinary problems in the team, according to the BCB.
It thinks if proper measures are not taken against such actions, many players will become reluctant to obey the rules. In order to avoid new problems of such nature, the board has decided in favour of the ban.
The president had earlier said he will not hesitate to take any big decision for the development of cricket while expressing displeasure at Shakib’s spree of breaking rules.
Before this, Shakib was banned for three matches during the series against Sri Lanka, in last February-March, for making indecent gesture.
