Bangladesh bowled India out for only 105 runs with pacer Taskin Ahmed’s brilliant five-wicket haul on his debut at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

In reply, the hosts were skittled out for just 58 runs to match their previous lowest ODI total, against the West Indies in the last World Cup at the same venue.

The defeat also sealed another series defeat for Bangladesh, who lost their ninth consecutive one-day game.

Mushfiqur, leading a side yet to record an ODI win this year, made no attempt to conceal his frustration.

"I don't have an explanation for this defeat. This sort of batting is inexplicable to me. All I can say is that we had a very good opportunity. There cannot be anything more shameful, so I apologise to the nation on behalf of the team," said the 25-year old.

Mushfiqur pointed out that chasing 106 for victory was possible in any sort of wicket.

"It was difficult to bat on the pitch. Some balls may have been good to result in dismissals but the way in which some of us got out… I think, the second team batsmen could put up a better show."

The captain was asked about opener Tamim Iqbal's inclusion despite questionable form and though Mushfiqur defended the opener, he hinted that it might be time for change.

"A 30 or 40 from him would have made a difference but as I said, the approach may be good but the application is not there."

Other opener Anamul Haque, allrounder Ziaur Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan all threw away their wickets. "Finishers" Mahmudullah and Nasir Hossain equally failed, as well.
The skipper said the batsmen lacked the mental strength to put up a fight.
"We had to try as hard as we usually do but our batsmen didn't show the mental toughness required in the middle. When they bowled two or three good overs, we played the wrong shots, which caused the defeat."
"It was apparent in the first innings that how difficult the batting was (on the track). Everyone was later warned of it. Things were fine until 44 runs, but I cannot explain what happened after that."
Mushfiur commended the debutant pacer Taskin Ahmed.
"Taskin was extraordinary. Mashrafe and Al-Amin also did well."
