Debutant Taskin Ahmed claimed five wickets to help the Tigers bowl India out for just 105 in 25.3 overs in the second ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

In the chase, Bangladesh lost eight wickets for 14 runs to be bowled out in 17.1 overs to slump to their ninth consecutive ODI defeat.

Seamer Stuart Binny ran through Bangladesh’s batting line-up with a career-best 6 for 4. He was adjudged Man of the Match for the best figures by an Indian bowler in ODIs.

The match was reduced to 41 overs a side due to rain but it finished off in a little over 41 overs.

At one point it appeared Bangladesh can easily win the match to draw level with plenty of overs to spare.

It was a rash stroke from Tamim Iqbal (4) in the first over that gave India some hope.

Tamim tried to hit Mohit Sharma over the covers having hit a boundary in the previous ball and got a thick edge through to the wickekeeper. He was out for a duck in the first ODI and carried a highest score of 31 this year across all formats.

Anamul Haque went back for a duck when he poked at a short Sharma delivery and hit it straight to point in the third over.

Debutant Mithun Ali (26) and skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (11) steadied the ship for a while as they added 31 runs for the third wicket.

The rot started when Binny got his first wicket in the 12th over. He sent back the Bangladesh skipper in his second over with one that straightened from leg stump. The short length delivery made it to keepers’ hands touching Muhfiqur’s glove.

Binny picked two more wickets in his next over.

Mithun, the topscorer for the hosts, hit a short of length delivery straight to the man at square leg while Mahmudullah, adding nothing, sliced the next delivery to gully where Amabati Rayudu needed a second attempt.

Sharma picked up Shakib Al Hasan for four and Ziaur Rahman for a duck in the next over.

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was the next to go in the 16th over. He edged a length ball from Binny behind adding only two.

Taskin and Nasir Hossain held on for an over before Binny sent back the remaining two in the 18th over.

The visitors, invited to bat first, lost opener Ajinkya Rahane to the second ball of the innings.

Taskin's five-for came for the cost of 28 runs while Mashrafe took two wickets in a pitch that produced five lbws in the innings.

Rahane, whose 64-run knock set up India’s win in the first ODI, was trapped lbw off a Mashrafe inswinger for a duck.

Taskin picked up two wickets in his two consecutive overs to add to India’s misery just after the match resumed after rain interruption.

Robin Uthappa (14) top-edged a short, outside off delivery high up and down into the hands of mid-off to give the hosts their first picking after rain halted play for more than two hours.

Rayudu added only one before he was out, lbw, in Taskin’s next over off a delivery that seamed in and hit his pad in front of middle-and-off.

Taskin bagged his third in the 14th over, as he found his way between Cheteshwar Pujara’s (11) bat and front pad to hit the back pad for the third lbw of the innings.

Mashrafe sent back Wriddhiman Saha (5) plumb in the second last delivery of the 17th over, while India skipper Suresh Raina was run out for 27 in the next delivery.

Al-Amin Hossain put India in a spot in the next over, sending back Akshar Patel for eight.

Taskin claimed his fourth in the 21st over as Binny (3) went for a slash but got only the bottom edge, landing the ball into the keeper’s gloves.

The pacer became the first Bangladesh bowler to take five wickets on debut with a fuller delivery to trap Amit Mishra lbw.

Shakib completed India’s misery when he had Umesh Yadav (17) edge straight to first slip.
