Mushfiqur said that he will try to convince Jurgensen, who handed in his resignation on Monday, to remain at that position after his arrival from Australia.

“I’ll talk to the coach once he is back in Dhaka. I’ll try to convince him to stay on in that position,” Mushfiqur the press on Wednesday.

Jurgensen has sent his resignation letter from Australia by an e-mail, media and communication committee chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Jalal Yunus told reporters on Monday.

A new coach is not what the Bangladesh skipper is looking forward to at this point. He wants Jurgensen to stay on for now.

“I’ve much to say, but not now. The coach will return to Dhaka tomorrow (Wednesday). I’m going to talk to him. I will also talk to the board President after be returns from abroad. I want him (Jurgensen) to stay,” Mushfiqur added.

The board has not taken any decision yet on his resignation and is waiting for the board President to get back.

Queensland-born Jurgensen, who served as an interim coach for the series against West Indies in 2012, did a good job and was appointed the full-time coach in February 2013.
He was given a two-year contract until the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

However, a series of poor results led to uncertainty over his remaining the coach and he, eventually, called it quits.
