The domestic Twenty20 competition may be organised between December 1 and January 5, said BCB director AJM Nasir Uddin after a meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

"It takes around 36 days to run BPL, according to our calculations. We will set aside time from that slot (December 1 to January 5)," acting BCB chief executive officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said.

BPL was cancelled this season due to match-fixing allegations. Also, FICA - the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations - had advised players against taking part because of the payment of fees of those who had participated in the earlier editions are long overdue.

In the second edition of the tournament, match-fixing charges were brought against nine individuals of Dhaka Gladiators.
Although six were found innocent in the hearing, team’s managing director Shihab Chowdhury was found guilty of "being party to an effort to fix" along with two players.

The cricket board and the International Cricket Council (ICC) had expressed their mutual disappointment over the Anti Corruption Tribunal verdict of the match-fixing allegations.

BPL’s second competition was held in January-February last year. Dhaka Gladiators, champions of the first two editions, have already announced that they would not take part in the event.
