The university’s Syndicate took the decision on Thursday night, Syndicate member Prof Md Amzad Hossain told bdnews24.com.
On Oct 11, 2014, a first-year geology student had filed a written complaint to the ‘Sexual Harassment and Abuse Prevention Committee’ against Hasan, a teacher of that department, prompting an investigation.
The investigation team on Apr 27, 2015, had recommended his sacking after getting preliminary evidence of Hasan’s ‘objectionable proposal and harassment’ over mobile phone.
When the matter was placed at a Syndicate meeting, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan suggested a fresh probe.
This led to the formation of a four-member ‘review committee’ led by Treasurer Sayen Uddin Ahmed.
With the charges being proved yet again, the review panel recommended on Thursday night that Prof Hasan be forced to retire ‘keeping in mind his age and a teacher’s honour’.
