The founding chairman of the university's Criminology Department passes away in hospital care after suffering a heart attack
A University Syndicate decision taken on Mar 21 has banned smoking inside all buildings -- faculties, institutes, offices, classrooms, laboratories and others, says a DU media statement issued on Tuesday.
The Tobacco Control Act 2005 prohibits smoking in public places.
DU acting Proctor Prof Amzad Ali told bdnews24.com, “The task of enforcing this Act on the campus is a little difficult.”
“But, we are trying our best,” he added.
“Smoking has been long banned in the administrative buildings of the university. Now we will make the decision effective in the rest of the buildings,” Prof Ali said.
