The clash erupted on the campus over greeting students who came to take the entrance tests.

“Two groups of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) are fighting each other. The police are trying to control the situation,” said Proctor Ali Asgar Chowdhury.

bdnews24.com’s Chittagong University (CU) Correspondent Aziz Ahmed reported from the spot that two police personnel were injured during the clash.

Witnesses said that two groups—led by CU- unit BCL President Alamgir Tipu and General Secrtary Fazle Rabbi— took out processions near the university railway stations, when the clash erupted.

Panic gripped students and guardians who came to the campus for the entrance tests when the clash broke out.

Police charged with batons and fired in the air to disperse the warring BCL factions, who were armed with local weapons, said bdnews24.com’s Aziz Ahmed.
