Only two students could qualify for the 125 seats allocated for B-unit examinees, because they managed to fulfil last year’s requirements of securing 15 in the elective English section, 20 in general English section and a minimum cumulative of 200 marks in English SSC and HSC examinations.

As a result, the university has decided to not make compulsory to have elective English section this year, Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique has said.

“Only students, who did not study in [Bengali medium] would answer in the elective English section,” he told bdnews24.com. The same clause was in place during the 2013-14 academic year’s admissions.

He added students would be given a minimum English section score target for admission into the department  this year.  The target would be set by the academic council.
The move was spurred by the drop in performance in HSC and equivalent exams this year.
The university also relaxed its general entrance requirements in the meeting on Wednesday. The grade point average (GPA) needed for admission last year minus the fourth subject has been revised—similar grade including the fourth subject has been set as the benchmark for applying for admission this year.
A media statement said students will be able to apply online for the admission to Graduate courses with Honours in 2015-16 educational year from Aug 24 to Sep 10.
The tests will start with ‘Kha’ unit on Oct 9. 'Cha' unit’s general test will be held on Oct 10. This unit’s drawing test will be held on Oct 17. The ‘Ga’ unit test will be held on Oct 16, ‘Ka’ unit on Oct 30, and ‘Gha’ unit on Nov 6.
