He even blamed the university authorities for the 'ruining the future' of the students.

His comments follow criticisms after only two students managed to secure entrance to the university's English department this year.

"The evaluation process (of Dhaka University) was faulty, that's why students failed. This is not our issue, it's their matter," Nahid told a briefing at the Secretariat on Sunday.

He blamed the Dhaka University (DU) authorities for 'ruining the future' of the students.

"The DU authorities should review this step by them; they cannot ruin the future of the students. Admission tests are not absolute, this is not an exam, just an evaluation process.
"We want the DU authorities to act responsibly. Are you doing this to harass the students or to question the education system?" thundered the education minister.
"Or else we will change the law, if needed. But I do not want to do it now.
"Do not ruin the future of the students," said Nahid.
