Bangladesh Jewellers Samity or BAJUS in a media statement on Tuesday said from Wednesday each Bhori of 22-carat gold will cost customers Tk 48,989 at the local market.

The BAJUS had increased the gold price on Sept 10 for, what it had said, adjustment with the global market.

As per the new rate, the prices of other categories of gold are as follows:

21 carat - Tk 46,773 per Bhori

18 carat - Tk 41,116 per Bhori

Traditional system gold - Tk 26,244 per Bhori

The previous prices were: 22 carat – Tk 50,155 per Bhori, 21 carat – Tk 47,822 per Bhori, 18 carat – Tk 41,990 per Bhori and traditional system gold – Tk 26,827 per Bhori.

BAJUS General Secretary Dilip Kumar Agarwal told bdnews24.com that "since the prices have dropped in the international market, we have readjusted the price by reducing them."

"For the past few months the international gold market witnessed an upward trend, but since last week the price started to drop," he said.

"Gold price in international market drops by $35 per ounce which is equal to 2.654 Bhori."

"We readjusted our prices according to that drop."
