Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal intimated the decision to the media after a meeting on the current state of law and order and security in industrial areas at his office on Sunday.

Representatives of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association, and chiefs of the law-enforcing agencies attended the meeting.

“A decision on announcing the holidays in phases from Aug 28 and giving their festival allowance before the Eid was taken at the meeting,” the home minister said.

The RMG factory owners were asked to pay wages and other dues after discussion with the workers.

Kamal also said special security measures were arranged for Eid holidaymakers and for 23 cattle markets in the capital.

There will be ‘enough’ machines to identify counterfeit currencies in these markets.

The law enforcers were asked to prevent unauthorised cattle markets being set up at 193 points and bazaars on 226 points along the highways, the minister said.

No sand-laden trawler will be allowed on the rivers for three days leading to the Eid.

Trucks carrying goods other than essential products, medicine, export products and cattle will not be allowed on the highways.
