Naveen Narayan, one of the members of the talent acquisition at Ola, sought applications from candidates for the job, according to a post in his LinkedIn account.
The move is seen as a challenge to Uber services in Dhaka and Colombo. Ola and Uber are currently engaged in a fierce battle for market dominance in India. The Bengaluru-based startup, founded in 2011, has a larger presence in India but faces tough competition from Uber in 28 cities.
Ola, the online transportation network company, raised $100 million in a fresh round of funding from Falcon Edge Capital and Ratan Tata’s UC-RNT capital. It came months after it received $250 million from Japanese investor SoftBank Group.
Ola had a turbulent ride over the past year with the exit of a number of senior-level executives coupled with valuation markdowns. The fresh investment could help Ola expand its base.
