Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission or BTRC published the data on its website on Thursday. Bangladesh has a population of 160 million, of whom 68.65 million people use mobile internet.
Internet service providers or ISPs and Public Switched Telephone Network or PSTN have around 4.6 million subscribers in total.
The BTRC has found customers’ interests waning in WiMAX, once a leading form of internet communication as an alternative to cable and DSL.
Of the 130 million mobile phone users, 59.3 million subscribe to Grameenphone, accounting for 45 percent of the total users.
Robi and Airtel together have 35 million subscribers after a merger while Banglalink has 31.3 million.
State-owned Teletalk has 3.7 million subscribers after the recent closure of Citycell.
