InGen Technology Ltd, a sister concern of ADN Group, started marketing the globally famed brand in Bangladesh from February as its sole distributor.

ADN Group’s Communications Manager Shaila Alam told bdnews24.com their participation in the three-day expo at the International Convention City Bashundhara would be the first public display of Havells.

This event showcases products like architectural, commercial and construction lighting, explosion-proof lights and mine lights, electrodeless lamps, and sport arena, garden and public area lighting, among others.

Havells is one of the largest electrical equipment companies in India having operations in 53 countries.

The demand for LED lights has grown globally as they save electricity, and are thus cost-effective. CFL bulbs have health hazards too.

Wimbledon, among the most famed sports venues around the globe, has installed LED lighting in the retractable roof that can cover the Centre Court during periods of rain or darkness for games of tennis.

Shah Rafiul Kabir, Head of InGen, said they are “pledged to play an active role in promoting green energy-conserving products to create a pollution free Bangladesh for our next generation”.

“This partnership (with Havells) will ensure that consumers in Bangladesh have access to world-class electrical goods at an affordable price.”

Kabir also said “these lights not only have a long life but are not harmful for eyesight, are energy-efficient and eco-friendly”.

He hopes visitors will come to the expo to see the products on display.

Visitors at the stall can get attractive and exclusive offers on a variety of Havells LED Lights. Havells LED bulbs and tube lights are available at retail stores as well, he said.

Apart from household lights, they can provide lights for industrial as well as street use.

According to company insiders, the LED market in Bangladesh is growing at a steady pace and to serve this market, several local companies have sprouted up but most of them are misrepresenting their features.

The BSTI in recent raids seized 2,000 bulbs being marketed without licence from five factories in Gulistan, Kaptanbazar, and Farmgate.

The licensing authority also slapped those LED light makers with Tk 632,000 in fines.

“Havells products are internationally tested with certified results. Havells is one of the five largest electronic appliance companies in the world. As a result, all the features and benefits that Havells advertisements claim are tested and proven,” Shaila Alam said.
