Banks to stay open Saturday for remittance services
Banks will remain open on Saturday to ensure smooth transactions of remittances sent home by Bangladeshi workers from abroad.

A necessary number of branches will have to operate on the weekend before the Eid to keep remittance flow stable and ensure its proper distribution, Bangladesh Bank said in a notice on Wednesday.
The central bank also asked the banks to arrange adequate security.
The number of branches to open on Saturday should reflect the remittance amount received and the number of clients they will be serving.
Bank branches located in industrial areas in and around Dhaka, Narayanganj and Chittagong have also been told to stay open on Saturday to serve factory workers who will be paid salary and bonuses before the Eid.
