In the past 20 years, Bangladesh’s growth has not dropped below 6 percent, which few countries can boast of, the finance minister says at a program at Dhanmondi’s Midas Centre on Sunday.
“It is my belief, that if we can continue the work we have done so far and make a few necessary changes, we can open many new horizons by 2020.
“It is my belief that, by 2020, Bangladesh will have a strong capital market which can provide us with the necessary investment. We can make that happen in three years.”
The finance minister also praised the NGO, first established in the 1980s.
"Midas used to be run with foreign assistance,” he said. “Then, at one point, the heads of the company decided it should become self-financed.”
“Now, many people say they will become self-sufficient. But Midas has managed it.”
