Scheduled banks to get 23 holidays in 2017, according to BB

Bangladesh Bank has announced that there will be 23 days of holiday for the scheduled banks in 2017. However, 10 of the holidays fall in the weekends – Friday and Saturday.

In a circular issued on Thursday the central bank allocated three days each for Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, depending on moon sighting.

In 2017, six bank holidays fall on Fridays while four of them fall on Saturdays.

For other festivals and special days, there will be one optional holiday.

Bangladesh Bank has sent the notice, listing the holidays, to the chief executives of the scheduled banks.
