Led by executive magistrate Tahmilur Rahman, a mobile court on Thursday visited the upscale Mimi supermarket and unearthed instances of retailers cheating the festive buyers by making double profits on cloth items.

The court visited a retail outlet called Young Lady and discovered that pieces of clothing bought for Tk 6,000 to Tk 7,000 were being sold at profits ranging from Tk 7,000 to Tk 13,000.

Speaking to bdnews24.com, Rahman said that a skirt bought at Tk 6,500 was being sold at Tk 19,000.

Similarly, Dollar, a children's apparel store was selling an item bought at Tk 7,000 for Tk 14,750.
Young Lady proprietor Md Nurusfa later said, "It was wrong on my part to sell the skirt at that price".
Mimi Market Traders' Association President Joynal Abedin has said that making such profits on Eid shopping is unacceptable.
Anchal, another store that sold a saree for Tk 41,000 failed to produce receipts that could show the buying price for the item.
The court also visited Afmi Plaza, Syamor Osen City and other shopper's stops and warned of legal action if such indiscriminate selling practices were discovered in the future.
