Prices of onion, garlic, farm chicken drop while sugar price rises

After crossing the Tk 200 per kilogram mark, the price of farm chicken has dropped this week.

Prices of onion and garlic, which had been on the rise in past few weeks, have also dropped.

Prices of sugar, gram and lentil, however, have increased.

Farm chicken was sold at Tk 165 to 180 per kg in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar on Friday.

Local onion has dropped to Tk 36 a kg from last week’s Tk 40-45.

Garlic has also dropped by Tk 20 a kg. Imported garlic priced Tk 180 per kg while local garlic was Tk 120-140.

Wholesale price of sugar was Tk 58 to 60 a kg, with a rise of up to Tk 4 to 6.

The price of gram, a commodity with highest demand during Ramadan, rose gradually from Tk 90 to 95 last week. The price of the Iftar item commodity, gram, has remained unchanged.
