Ex-DSE MD Swapan Kumar Bala made BSEC Commissioner

The government has appointed Swapan Kumar Bala as a new commissioner to the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for the next two years.

The former Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) managing director’s appointment was announced in a public administration ministry order on Monday.

Bala will have to resign from any other post that he may be currently holding before taking up his new assignment.

Bala, also a professor of Dhaka University’s accounting and information system department, will replace Arif Khan, who stepped down in January.

Bala’s contract with DSE ended on Apr 12.

Stock market regulator BSEC consists of a chairman and four commissioners.

M Khairul Hossain is the present Chairman. The three other commissioners are Md Helal Uddin Nizami, Md Amzad Hossain and Md A Salam Sikder.
