The minister revealed the plan at a meeting with Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) officials and depot managers.
He said the state-owned corporation would turn into a profitable organisation and fulfil people's expectations once the irregularities and corruption in the BRTC depots stopped.
Currently, BRTC is running with 1,050 buses, according to Quader. "Steps will be taken to fix the repairable buses and add them to the BRTC convoy," he said.
He said BRTC will have to raise the standard of service in order to stay in the competition.
He advised the officials to expand bus service for women and ensure their reserved seats.
BRTC Chairman Mizanur Rahman, among others, was present.
