Visiting EU delegation expresses satisfaction over reform in RMG sector

A visiting European Parliament delegation has expressed satisfaction over the ongoing reform process undertaken at readymade garments factories.

A team of EP representatives led by Jean Lambert met Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) leaders at the association’s office on Friday afternoon.

Expressing her satisfactions over the reform process, Lambert, however, called more initiatives for labour rights and wages.

BGMEA President Siddiqur Rahman said that EP team assured them to “have detailed discussion” on fixing 'fair prices' for garments products after returning to their countries.

BGMEA says ensuring workplace safety at each factory costs an additional Tk 50 million.
