In a rejoinder to a bdnews24.com report published on Wednesday, it says the factory licence was renewed in December last year for a period up to June next year.

But the DIFE website still says the licence of Matrix Sweater at Gazipur has not been renewed.

bdnews24.com based the news on the website information to report that for more than 18 months, the Matrix Sweater factory was operating without a valid licence.

Before publishing the news, bdnews24.com contacted factory Director (Finance) Animesh Majumder on Wednesday night for his version about the DIFE website information. But he did not say anything clearly.
DIFE Gazipur office Deputy Inspector General Farid Ahmed told bdnews24.com that the factory was operating without getting its licence renewed.
But, after the report was published, Majumder said DIFE Gazipur office had renewed the licence for a period up to Jun 30, 2017.
Owners of Matrix, a concern of Labib Group, earlier claimed it suffered Tk 1 billion losses when the fire broke out on the eighth floor of the factory.
