The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division’s Additional Secretary Golam Fakhruddin Ahmed Chowdhury has been appointed Managing Director of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL).

Public administration ministry issued a circular to this effect on Tuesday.
Previously, he served in the Office of Controller of Certifying Authorities as its chief.
On July 11, BTCL MD Mahfuz Uddin Ahmed went into leave preparatory to retirement (LPR) and ICT Division Additional Secretary Shawkat Mostafa stood in.
The BTCL has 800 digital exchanges, international telephone and internet gateways and satellite earth stations across the country.
