The BASIS Women’s Forum was inaugurated in Dhaka on Saturday.
“Women of our country have skills and education. They should now be encouraged; an appropriate platform should be built and managed,” BASIS President Shameem Ahsan said.
He said the new wing had been formed with this in mind.
BASIS Director Samira Zuberi Himika has been made the forum convener.
“Many women in our country are confined to homes despite their skills and many others are unable to reach leading positions due to an absence of proper direction,” she said at the function.
“We will encourage those women to work in the IT sector.”
She also hoped to organise counselling sessions, training and social awareness programmes for women’s progress.
