Share market turns around, DSE turnover hits six-month high

The stock market is turning bullish as the indices and turnover are increasing daily.

On Tuesday, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw increase in its turnover for the 10th consecutive day.
 
Shares worth over Tk 8.08 billion were traded – the highest in six months. The amount was Tk 540 million more than Monday’s turnover.
 
On Dec 12 last year, the turnover was Tk 8.12 billion.
 
DSE benchmark index DSEX gained 52 points to 4,459 on Tuesday.
 
On Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), CASPI rose around 167 points to 13745.
 
The turnover on Tuesday was Tk 690 million, which was Tk 80 million more than Monday’s turnover.
 
Faruq Ahmad Siddiqi, former chairman of market regulator Securities and Exchange Commission, told bdnews24.com that investors were gaining confidence slowly after a long downtrend.
 
Amidst continuous fall in indices, DSE turnover had dropped to Tk 3.3 billion on the first trading day of May.
 
On Tuesday, DSE saw trading of 310 shares and mutual funds. Of them, 210 issues gained, 68 lost and 32 remained unchanged.
 
The DSES or Shariah Index increased 14 points to 1,083 and DSE30 gained 20 points to 1,686.
 
On CSE, the number of shares traded on Tuesday was 242. Of them, 169 gained, 55 dropped and 18 retained earlier prices.
