Exhibition on craftsmen’s life, works begins in capital

A special exhibition on the life and works of craftsmen has begun at the National Museum in capital Dhaka.

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith inaugurated the five-day show on Friday afternoon.

The museum’s Department of Ethnography and Decorative Art organised the exhibition marking the Language Martyrs’ and International Mother Language Day.

Craftsmen from different places of the country are taking part in the exhibition with their works. They are producing their items on the exhibition ground so that the visitors can watch the making process.

Those who make Jamdani sari, hand fan, Nakshi Kantha (quilt with artistic design), wooden doll, earthen doll, metal utensil, cake, mat, jute goods, flute, cane products, and bamboo goods and do rickshaw painting joined the show.

Bangla Academy Deputy Director Aminur Rahman Sultan, Chairman of the National Museum Trustee Board Azizur Rahman, member Nazrul Islam and Director General Faizul Latif Chowdhury also spoke at the inauguration.

The exhibition will remain open from 9am to 7pm every day up to Feb 24.
