In this offer, the subscriber pays just Tk 1 irrespective of the number of SMSs received. Earlier, they had to pay Tk 2 for each SMS.

To get this facility, Grameenphone subscribers will have to dial *321# and press the relevant button for ‘Breaking News’. For this they need not pay anything extra.

In addition to Breaking News, the subscribers can avail of daily ‘Morning News’, ‘Midday News’, ‘Evening News’ and ‘Business News’ services from the bdnews24.com basket.

bdnews24.com head of New Media and New Business Rashed Ahasan said: “The subscribers will from now on get ‘Breaking News’ and other news updates through this offer launched on Jan 1.”
Head of Products at Grameenphone Hasibul Haque said: “We are happy to have introduced a service like 321 for the first time in Bangladesh. We have done it keeping the subscribers' interest in mind and hope they will like it.”
Besides breaking news, the offer also brings along Welcome Tunes, Sport Alerts, Religious Services, and Daily Health Tips for just Tk 1.
To unsubscribe, the subscribers will have to dial the same number *321#. Those who are already using the facility will automatically come under the Tk 1 offer.
Grameenphone, Bangladesh’s biggest mobile-phone operator with about 50 million subscribers, tied up with bdnews24.com for SMS news service in 2008.
A spokesperson for bdnews24.com newsroom said: "We maintain the high professional and ethical standards while giving accurate news in the face of stiff competition in the market.
“We have a dedicated team working for this. Strict editorial monitoring at all stages makes it possible for us to report accurately. The subscribers will now get SMS for Tk 1 with the same news value they used to get before.”
