He particularly urged them to invest in the energy, power, and infrastructure development sectors.

A foreign ministry media release said Alam made the call when a 24-member delegation of the Wales Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (WBCC) called on him at his office on Wednesday.

He also highlighted the opportunities for investors in Bangladesh.

The business delegation arrived in Dhaka on Jan 25 on a week-long visit to develop business relations.

This is the second trade mission from Wales in Bangladesh in five years.

The chamber is dominated by the Bangladesh diaspora and they are focused on transferring skills and knowledge for businesses, despite challenges like political turmoil, to the country.

The UK was the second largest cumulative investor or source of foreign direct investment in Bangladesh, with £159.5 million worth of investments in various projects, in the 2012-2013 fiscal, according to Bangladesh Bank.

Some 100 UK firms are operating in Bangladesh focusing mainly around Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet.
