He says the fall in oil global prices will not pull down fuel prices here.

Slow economic growth in developing nations and an increase in supply have halved oil prices since June to around $60 a barrel.

But Bangladesh cannot always fix oil prices as per the global market, Muhith told reporters in Sylhet on Friday.

The country's oil sector is heavily subsidised.

Saudi Oil Minister Ali al-Naimi on Thursday said the recent falls are likely to be temporary, the BBC reported.

Muhith said the oil prices in the international market could rise again.

"So, there's no chance of cutting oil prices in Bangladesh for now," he said.
