Share prices down

Both price indices and transactions in the share market declined in the past week.

DSEX broad index on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) dropped 1.70 percent to 4899.61 points on Thursday, the closing day of the week, from previous week’s closing.

Selective index DSE30 declined by 2.44 percent to 1814.69 and shariah index DSES by 2.45 percent to 1145.82.

Weekly transactions in the bourse stood at Tk 31.36 billion, a 17 percent or Tk 6.43 billion drop from Tk 37.71 billion of the previous week.

Shares of 316 companies and mutual funds changed hands in the week. Of them, 89 increased, 224 decreased and 13 remained unchanged.
The shares of A category companies accounted for 77.79 percent of the total transactions while B category shares constituted 2.08 percent of the trade volume, N category 17.93 percent and Z category 2.20 percent.
In the week, CAAPI on the Chittagong Stock Exchange fell 1.54 percent to 15141.72 points, CSE30 0.69 percent to 12399.93 and CSCX 1.24 percent to 9254.01.
Weekly transactions on the bourse dropped 29.81 percent.
