DSE transaction records 14-month high

Bangladesh’s premier bourse, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE,) has ended the week’s trading with a record 14-month high transaction of Tk 12.88 billion.

Market analysts say people are investing in the capital market for better returns, as banks have cut interest rates.

The last time the DSE had touched such a buoyant transaction level was on July 9, when the trading surged to Tk 12.95 billon.

On Thursday, the general index DSEX went up 1.41 percent. It gained 67.79 points before closing at 4,866.19 points.

Of the shares traded, prices of 200 gained, 83 declined, while 17 remained unchanged.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended the day at 9,081 points, gaining 146 points with a Tk 770 million transaction.

This has been a buoyant week for the DSE.

It gained 190 points and had an average transaction of Tk 9.2 billion – Tk 3.47 billion higher than the previous week.
