The two were transferred from a refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya Upazila on Sunday night to a state-run hospital in the port city, said police's Assistant Sub-Inspector Alauddin Talukdar.

One of the HIV-positive women is 50 years old, while the other is 60, he told bdnews24.com.

According to Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, 4,143 cases of HIV-positive individuals have been reported this year, and 658 patients have died.

Another Rohingya refugee, who was bitten by a snake, was transferred to the hospital alongside the two women, said Talukder of the police camp in state-run hospital.

Over 400,000 Rohingya refugees from Myanmar have fled across the border to Bangladesh since the start of a military operation on Aug 25.

Most of the Rohingya patients brought to Chittagong in the first days of the mass exodus had been wounded by bullets or explosions. The patients being transferred in recent days are more often suffering from disease.

Rohingyas are returned to the refugee camps after their treatment is complete.
