The three centres are Popular Diagnostic Centre, Regent Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, and Medic Health Diagnostic Centre.

Magistrate Sarwar Alam, who headed the court, told bdnews24.com that it conducted a drive in the three organisations on Monday afternoon.

At Popular Diagnostic Centre in Section 10, the court found date-expired chemicals were being used for pathological tests.

The magistrate found that the employees or technicians, and not the doctors, were signing test results at the diagnostic centre.

The organisation was fined Tk 600,000 for the two counts of serious irregularities.

Regent Hospital and Diagnostic Centre at Section 12 did not have any permission to conduct blood transfusion, and there were faults in the procedure, of which no record was kept, the magistrate said.

The organisation's pharmacy was charging Tk 500 for medicine with a retail price of Tk 60 only. It was also selling unapproved Indian medicines, according to Magistrate Alam.

"They have cooking arrangements in their operation theatre," he said.

The hospital was also fined Tk 600,000.

Medic Health Diagnostic Centre kept blank medical test result sheets with signatures of a doctor or specialist for the test results to be added to the sheet for the individual patient later.

"They were issuing results without conducting tests," the magistrate said.

The court fined it Tk 100,000.

All the fines were collected during the drive, the magistrate said.
