Ambassador Ahn Seong-doo said the donation will be given through the International Organization for Migration or IOM.

Over 400,000 Rohingyas entered Bangladesh fleeing the Rakhine State violence since Aug 25.

Ambassador Ahn hoped that the assistance would contribute to lessening the suffering of them and improving their living conditions.

Korea has also expressed deep concerns over the latest violence in the Rakhine state and the ensuing influx of refugees into Bangladesh.

Seoul also made clear its support for all the international efforts, including Bangladesh’s, to help the refugees.

The embassy said Korea will continue "to closely cooperate with the international community, including Bangladesh and the Myanmar government, to solve this issue".

Bangladesh was already home to 400,000 Rohingya refugees before insurgents attacked 30 police outposts and an army base in the western Rakhine state on Aug 25.

UN agencies fear the number of new refugees may reach to a million by the end of the year if the situation remains unchanged.
