The nearly 400,000 refugees who fled a violent government crackdown in Myanmar will not be allowed to reside with friends, family or acquaintances in Bangladesh and must live in the refugee camps until they can return to Myanmar, Bangladesh Police said in a statement on Saturday.

It said the government has made arrangements for shelter, food and medical care for refugees and that they will remain in the assigned accommodations until returning to their country.

The Rohingyas have also been barred from regular travel outside the camps and cannot make use of road, rail or marine mass transportation.

Transportation drivers, workers, and owners have been advised not to take any Rohingya passengers.

Police have also requested the cooperation of the public in identifying and reporting any breaches of these regulations.
