On behalf of the Korean government, Ambassador Ahn Seong-doo announced that the donation which would be provided through International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS).
This year, a prolonged monsoon and rushing water from upstream caused a devastating flood affecting about 7.4 million people of Bangladesh.
The Korean government’s fund will be used to supplement IFRC and BDRCS assistance focused on health, shelter, water, sanitation, food and livelihoods, the embassy said in a statement.
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has been supporting IFRC in the field of disaster risk management since 2015 with a budget of $1 million.
