Her remains were dug up from the grave and handed to the family earlier on Thursday in Tangail, where the rapists dumped her in an attempt to conceal the crime.

Her brother Hafizur Rahman told bdnews24.com that she was buried next to her father's grave in the family graveyard in Ashanbarhi village in the evening.

Earlier, Tangail Executive Magistrate Abdur Rahim supervised the handover. Her family left Tangail with the body at around 4pm.

Tangail District Magistrate Khan Md Nurul Amin, also deputy commissioner of the district, passed an order the same day following a request of Modhupur police’s Inspector Quaiyum Siddiqui on behalf of Hafizur.

The Tangail judicial magistrate initially said the matter was beyond his jurisdiction when Hafizur made the plea.

Inspector Quayium Siddiqui (investigation) at Modhupur Police Station then moved to the district magistrate and secured the order for Hafizur.

Rupa, a resident of Sirajganj's Tarash, was raped and brutally killed on a moving Chhowa Paribahan bus on Friday night, according to a case started by her brother. Rupa was earlier buried in Tangail as the body remained unclaimed at the time.
