Teacher in Jhenaidah arrested for damaging student’s eyes
A schoolgirl in Jhenaidah lost her vision after her teacher allegedly poked her eyes with a ruler, police have said.

The teacher, Murad Hossain, has been arrested in a case started by the victim’s father in a village of Shailkupa Upazila, according to local police chief Alamgir Hossain.
Mariatuz Foara, a student of class VI at Montejar Rahman Mia Secondary School, was hit hard in the eye inside her classroom on Aug 12, as per case details.
Murad hit the girl after his hands got stained with ink on her ruler, said Shariful Islam, father of the victim.
The girl was admitted to the Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital first and later was taken to Dhaka as her condition deteriorated. But doctors in Dhaka said that there was no hope, according to Shariful.
He says he wishes to take Foara to India for better treatment but cannot afford it.
