Police said the incident was reported on Sunday from a village on the outskirts of the district town.

The victims are 28-year-old Idris Ali, a security guard of the farm, and 45-year-old local resident Mozaffar Hossain, said Sub Inspector Saiful Islam.

A witness said eight to ten men raided the farm late on Sunday.

"They killed Idris, tied him up and dumped the body in a nearby pond. They beat and tied me up as well," said Abdul Hamid, another guard at the farm.

Hossain's body was spotted by locals on Monday morning at a nearby orchard.

“We think he was killed because he witnessed the robbery or tried to stop it,” said his nephew Tanvir Hossain.

Idris began working at the farm about four months ago, said the farm's Manager Harun Ur Rashid.

He believes Idris was killed because he had recognised the rustlers.

“They made off with 10 cows. The market value is close to Tk 800,000,” he said.

Police have launched an investigation, said Mymensingh Police OC Quamrul Islam.
