He alleged at a news conference on Sunday that 13 members of the platform were injured in two consecutive attacks on Thursday and Friday.
“The absence of measures by the government or the authorities over the attacks that took place in the presence of police certainly proves that the government influenced the attacks and had hands in it,” he said.
Imran started a case after the first attack, but the police are yet to make any arrest or name any suspect. The attackers used brickbats and sticks during the assaults.
According to him, the attacks aimed to distract attention from public sufferings and conceal ‘some issues’.
Sarker said the Mancha’s movement would continue despite all obstacles.
He also referred to the attack on his car by Bangladesh Chhatra League activists when he was leaving a court after attending the hearing of a case against him filed in July on charges of chanting ‘derogatory slogans’ against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during protests.
Professor Ajay Roy, rights activist Khushi Kabir, Bangladesh Students’ Union President Zilani Shuvo, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front President Imran Habib Rumon were also present at the media conference.
