The 35-year-old victim, a mother of three, was admitted to Nilphamari General Hospital after the reported rape in the wee hours of Sunday. A group of eight to nine men were involved in the assault, her mother said.

Dimla Police Station OC Moazzem Hossain said the police went to the area after being informed by the locals later in the morning and rescued the victim with her hands and legs tied.

Sultana Razia, a gynaecologist at the hospital, said evidence of rape was found in an initial medical test on the mother of three.

The alleged victim’s mother told bdnews24.com she was staying in her daughter’s house after her husband left home for work 10 days ago.

She said eight to nine men broke into the house around 3am on Sunday and took the victim away after tying her and her three granddaughters with a pole.

Locals came and rescued the victim’s mother and daughters after hearing them crying and screaming. The victim was found around half a kilometre away from the house later in the morning.

The victim’s mother could not name any of the alleged rapists.

OC Moazzem said the victim's father was initiating a case over the incident.
