The Awami League’s research wing, the Centre for Research and Information (CRI) said the screening was aimed at introducing Bangladesh’s founding father to school students.

CRI Assistant Coordinator Tonmoy Ahmed said the documentary was also an effort to show how smear campaign had been waged to defame his contribution and justify his assassination.

Bangabandhu was assassinated along with almost his entire family on Aug 15, 1975. His daughters – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana – survived as they were abroad.

Around 7,500 students watched the documentary screened at the Sheikh Russell Digital Labs (SRDL) built in those schools. The ICT Division set up those labs with the help of the CRI.
