He was speaking at the closing ceremony of a two-day computer science and engineering carnival at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology or SUST on Saturday.

His remarks followed the 'chaotic entry' of BCL leaders and activists, led by their SUST unit acting chief Ruhul Amin, to the venue.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as the chief guest.

"We, who are present here today, are your teachers. You should show us some respect, but you've entered in the middle of the programme with your supporters. That's not right," Prof Zafar Iqbal said, addressing Ruhul Amin.

He also said, "Sheikh Hasina has done many things for the country. That's why the possibility of her win in the next election is high.

"But if the Awami League loses, then it will be for some unruly boys and girls like you," he added, pointing his finger at the BCL leaders and activists at the programme.

Ruhul Amin told bdnews24.com later that he had asked his supporters to stop when they raised party slogans.

"Sir (Prof Zafar Iqbal) gave me some advice at that time," he said.

Ruhul Amin is heading the BCL unit since the removal of Sanjiban Chakrabarty as the president on Apr 28 after BCL activists assaulted two journalists on his orders. The journalists came under the attack after protesting against harassment of a female visitor.
