The dead have been identified as Sobhan Ali, 37, and Hasanuzzaman, 35, who were involved in two attempted robberies early Wednesday in the Sadar Upazila’s Baradi and Bheramara Upazila’s Doshmile.
“We received word that bandits had blocked a road with felled trees in Baradi and Bheramara to rob vehicles,” Additional Superintendent of Police Zainul Abedin said
“Detective police and a team from the Sadar Police Station were sent to Baradi and police from the Bheramara Police Station were sent to Doshmile. The bandits opened fire on police when they arrived on the scene. Police returned fire.”
Sobhan and Hasanuzzaman died on the spot.
Police have recovered two firearms, two bullets and a saw from the scene, Abedin said.
