Baby Maudud's 3rd death anniversary to be observed Tuesday  

Family members and colleagues of AN Mahfuza Khatun Baby Maudud will remember the journalist-writer on her third death anniversary through various programmes on Tuesday.

She died on July 25, 2014 after battling cancer.
 
Dhaka Union of Journalists will organise a meeting on her remembrance on the second floor of the National Press Club at 11am.
 
A Milad Mahfil and special prayers will be held at her home, house 45, road 10/A, Dhanmondi.
 
Beginning her career as a journalist in 1967, she worked for the BBC, Daily Sangbad, Daily Ittefaq, BSS, and the Weekly Bichitra before joining bdnews24.com.
 
She had joined the East Pakistan Students’ Union while at the Dhaka University.
 
She was also a member of the Rokeya Hall Student Council in 1967-68.
 
In the 1990s, Baby Maudud was a vocal campaigner for the prosecution of suspected war criminals.
 
She was elected MP in the 9th Parliament on an Awami League ticket from a seat reserved for women.
 
She served as a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Social Welfare.
 
She was a versatile writer and published several books, mostly for children.
 
Baby Maudud played an important part in editing ‘Asamapta Atmajibani’ (The Unfinished Memoirs) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
